Ca Do Maina
Genoa, In 1916, a child named Grado Balestrero comes into the world, but his life begins with a profound loss.
Having lost his mother in his first days of life and with his father dying in Belgrade during the First World War, Grado is separated from his two older brothers, Arnaldo and Giulio.
The brothers are adopted by two different Genoese families, while Grado finds refuge in an orphanage.
Years later, a farmer from the Ligurian hinterland, longing for a male child after having only had female children, decides to adopt him. In this new family, Grado grows up surrounded by affection and love.
When Grado turns eighteen, during a hot day working in the fields, something extraordinary happens: his brothers, Arnaldo and Giulio, suddenly appear.
They had never stopped thinking about him, their little brother, and, after much insistence with the orphanage, they had managed to find out where he lived.
From that day on, the three brothers never separated again. Despite the years spent apart, the bond that united them remained intact.
Grado, while maintaining a wonderful relationship with his adoptive family, chooses to follow his brothers to Genoa.
Here he begins his working life, humbly accepting various jobs.
However, he soon understands that his true love is the sea.
That irresistible call accompanies him throughout his life: he spends over twenty years in the Navy and many others aboard boats and in Ligurian shipyards.
In 1950, Grado arrived in Chiavari and fell in love with the neighborhood of via Marina Giulia, at the time surrounded by the sea and inhabited by fishermen.
Here he decided to put down roots, building his family and leaving an indelible mark.
Today, that house, Ca do Maina, bears his name and tells his story.
It is a tribute to him, to my beloved father: a good man, free and deeply connected to the sea.
With love,
Eliana

"A truly unique apartment, totally in a nautical style, it feels like staying on a boat in the middle of the sea.
Flat screen TVs in every room, free wifi, air conditioning, very close to the beach (just cross the road) and to the city center (just go in the opposite direction and walk a short distance)! I recommend it."
Review of Ca do Maina
"The location is in a nice town close to the sea and options for aperitivo and restaurants, very close to Cinque Terre. Mrs. Eliana was very patient to wait for our arrival time and very kind to explain how everything is arranged in the accommodation. Her place is really beautiful decorated and clean. The beds are comfortable and it has two bathrooms which is really helpful if you travel in four. Also she was very kind to extend our check out time. I will definitely recommend it and I would stay there again."
Review of Ca do Maina
"We hope to return again and I recommend them visually to those who truly appreciate the rarity of people.
The typical furnishings of the place that recall the past, the complete service of all the comforts of the present times with a thorough cleaning of the rooms."
